Part 3: Expanding to the New Trailer
As Onyx Native kept growing, it became clear that the original trailer just wasn’t cutting it anymore.
Don’t get me wrong — that little trailer was a blessing, and it got me through so many milestones. But by the time I was doing bigger events, setting up more product, and adding in all the extras (like denim, graphic tees, and accessories), I needed more space. It was getting too tight to do things the way I wanted to.
I had a vision for something more functional. More inviting. More me.
That’s when the idea of expanding to a new trailer came into play. I wanted something wider, with better shelving, more product on display, a try-on room, and — this might sound silly — lights. Actual lights. So people could shop and feel like they were stepping into a boutique, not just a box on wheels.
The new trailer is everything I hoped for. It’s more organized, more polished, and more reflective of where Onyx Native is now. I finally have room to showcase the full product line, create little shopping moments inside, and give customers an experience they’ll actually remember.
It’s more than just a trailer. It’s a symbol of how far this brand has come — from folding clothes in the back of a minivan to creating a mobile shopping experience that’s rooted in style, hustle, and a whole lot of heart.
If you're dreaming of a mobile setup that fits your brand, know that it’s possible to go from scrappy beginnings to a polished, professional setup. This new trailer represents more than just a business upgrade — it’s proof that starting small doesn’t limit how far you can go. And if you’re thinking about starting your own mobile retail trailer journey, I’m cheering for you.
From folding clothes in the back of a minivan to stepping into a custom-built boutique on wheels, this journey has been nothing short of wild — and I wouldn’t change a thing. Every messy, magical step has shaped what Onyx Native is today.
I hope this series gave you not just a behind-the-scenes look at how this trailer came to life, but also the confidence to start your own version of it. If you’re dreaming of a mobile boutique, know that I’m rooting for you every step of the way. And who knows — maybe this is just the beginning of your 3-part story.
